In the last quarter of the 1800s, monotype parties were the rage for all artists in Europe and America. In this two-day intensive workshop, participants use their drawings, paintings, or photos as reference as they explore the printing territory pioneered by Edgar Degas. Demonstrations include traditional monotype printing techniques and manipulation of the image with watercolor, gouache, and pastels. A gourmet lunch is served daily.

Plein Air Painting in Iceland

Take a break from the summer heat for a cool painting workshop in the land of ice and fire. The workshop is based at the Kriunes Hotel, www.kriunes.is. This 6-week session is structured to accommodate all artistic levels from the beginner to the intermediate. Students learn ways to improve their paintings through composition, color and technique using both OIL and ACRYLIC paint. Instruction includes individual focus as well as short demos. Students bring in their own photographs or other reference materials as needed.
